Check-in to the wildest hospital in theater history. Brought to life by the fertile mind of playwright Frank Julian, this show is a wild ride into the hilariously chaotic world of a mad doctor’s outrageous attempts to cure five zany patients.
The Peacock Players, a vibrant theatrical troupe, began their journey in the quaint and intimate Peacock Theater located at The Farm, a music camp nestled in Brooksville, Florida. Their story is one of passion, creativity, and community spirit, with roots deeply intertwined with the local music and arts scene.
The troupe's inception was marked by the 2022 debut of "The Last Resort", a play written specifically for The Peacock Theater. The theater, with its limited seating of just 25, quickly faced the challenge of accommodating its growing audience. Encouraged to expand their seating capacity by their audience, the troupe was introduced to The Valerie Theater in downtown Inverness, setting the stage for their remarkable growth.
The Peacock Players swiftly made a name for themselves in the West Central Florida theatrical community with their unique blend of musical comedies. Their repertoire includes notable productions like "The Last Resort" and "The Last Broadcast of the Gary Grizzle Show," both penned by Frank Julian. These performances have been celebrated for their witty scripts, engaging storylines, and musical flair, reflecting the troupe's strong ties to the Florida folk music scene.
Many members of the Peacock Players are also active in the local folk music community, bringing a rich musical dimension to their theatrical productions. This fusion of music and theater has become a hallmark of their performances, captivating audiences and earning them a dedicated following.
From their humble beginnings in the cozy confines of the Peacock Theater, the Peacock Players have grown into a beloved fixture in the regional arts landscape. Their commitment to artistic excellence and community engagement continues to drive their success, making each performance a memorable celebration of local talent and creativity.
